CTS Combitech Traffic Systems, the Swedish subsidiary of Kapsch AG, has secured a contract to plan and install an electronic toll system in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. The electronic toll system for Malaysia will be supplied to the Gamuda-Mujur Minat Joint Venture that has been commissioned to provide the road toll systems by the franchise company SPRINT (Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Sdn Bhd). SPRINT has a 30-year franchise to finance, construct and operate toll highways in Kuala Lumpur and is the largest and most important franchise holder in this sector in the Malaysian capital. In view of the importance of this customer, CTS expects the Gamuda Group to order more than 400,000 transponders (in-car transmitters/receivers for recording and debiting tolls) over the next few years. |
